Engineering Fronts 2023
Clarivate released Engineering Fronts 2023 along with the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and the Higher Education Press of China. This report is the seventh annual collaboration and aims to track the development trends of engineering science and technology by identifying key research areas.
A total of 187 key research areas were identified in this year’s report, including 93 engineering research fronts and 94 engineering development fronts. In the report, an engineering front refers to a key research direction which is forward looking, leading and exploratory.
The engineering research fronts focus on theoretical exploration and are identified using citation data from the Web of Science™ from Clarivate as well as nominations by experts at CAE. The engineering development fronts focus on the practical application of engineering science and technology and are identified by analysis of patent data in Derwent Innovation™ from Clarivate as well as nominations by industry experts at CAE.
