Getting Students Over the Finish Line

Mentoring and Support for Graduate Degree Completion
This two-part workshop will address obstacles to graduate student completion, especially at the research and writing stage. Participants will be encouraged to attend the initial webinar and the subsequent drop-in conversation for optimal effect.
In the initial (90 min.) webinar, we will discuss effective strategies and models currently used by universities world-wide that address the mentoring and writing needs of graduate students to help them move to degree completion. Australasian models, data and experiences will be integrated into the presentation. We will highlight ProQuest tools that help students identify research topics, find authoritative sources, execute literature reviews, and demystify the process of writing.
The second (90 min.) webinar (Friday, March 17, 2023, 10 - 11:30 a.m AEST) will consist of an unstructured one-and-a-half-hour block of time dedicated to drop-in conversations, in which deans and faculty members who attended the first workshop can informally discuss their ideas, successes and challenges with Hugh and Jan.
