Meet the presenters

Dr. Martin Szomszor is Director at the Institute for Scientific Information. He joined from Digital Science, where, as Chief Data Scientist he applied his extensive knowledge of machine learning, data integration and visualization techniques to found the Global Research Identifier Database. He was named a 2015 top-50 UK Information Age data leader for his work in creating the REF2014 impact case studies database for the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). Read more

Met Office
Dr. Natalie Garrett is a Senior Scientist at the Met Office, working as the Private Secretary to the Chief Scientist. In this role, she runs the office of the Chief Scientist, and ensures the delivery of the Met Office Science Programme. Read more

University of the West of Scotland
Professor Radosavljevic joined UWS in December 2013 as Professor in Civil Engineering before being appointed to the position of Assistant Dean Research and Enterprise in the then School of Engineering and Computing in September 2014, and University’s Associate Vice-Principal Research and Enterprise between September 2017 and May 2020. In the past, he held leadership positions across all areas of academic activity, including School Director of Teaching & Learning and School Director of Enterprise in addition to several programme leadership and course development roles at the University of Reading. He completed his PhD in Construction Management at the University of Dundee, where, subsequently, for several years he co-managed Scottish demonstration projects on behalf of Constructing Excellence and Communities Scotland. Professor Radosavljevic has contributed his expertise at institutions globally, including the Norwegian School of Management, Tallinn University of Technology, University of Ljubljana, Shandong University, University of Cambridge, City University London, and has developed and run numerous executive courses in the UK and abroad. His research track record includes predominantly industry-led projects like Built Asset Lifecycle Intelligence (BALI), embodied energy optimisation for concrete structures, Building Information Modelling (BIM) based whole life costing, KanBIM on-site BIM platform development, and the Olympics 2012 Programme Management review, jointly with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and on behalf of the Olympic Delivery Authority. Professor Radosavljevic co-authored one of the construction sector’s most comprehensive textbooks on construction management strategies, offering a clear theoretical framework to systematically improve its productivity. He has several years of leadership experience in off-site construction sector in Slovenia and has over the years been a regular keynote or invited speaker at international industry Project Management conferences for the Energy and Construction sectors. Miguel Garcia is a Product Director at Clarivate, looking after the Web of Science products focusing on research assessment and funding such as InCites, the Journal Citation Reports and Converis. Over the last 5 years at Clarivate, he has also been working with customers on demonstrating and optimizing the usage of research data and APIs as well as all the products in the Web of Science portfolio. Based in London, has an MSc in Electrical and Computers Engineering from the University of Porto. Read more
