From Local to Global: Collaborating with libraries to expand the reach of graduate research

15th April
10am - 11am (UK) /  12pm - 1pm (EET)

Unlocking global visibility and impact for dissertations and theses

In this webinar, we explore how the free ETD Dissemination Program empowers universities and their graduate authors to dramatically expand the visibility, impact, and discoverability of their theses and dissertations. By making graduate research available through ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT) Global and indexed in Web of Science, institutions can elevate the global reach of their scholarly output, enhance research reputation, and ensure that authors’ works are found, cited, and used by scholars worldwide.

Participants will gain practical insights into how the program works, its benefits for institutions and authors, and what steps are involved in enabling seamless dissemination – all at no charge to authors or universities.

Participants will learn:

  • The history of ProQuest and its evolution into Clarivate, and the role of dissertations in the scholarly ecosystem
  • How the ETD Dissemination Program supports graduate authors and their institutions
  • That integrating with Web of Science amplifies global visibility
  • How author rights, copyright, embargo options, and royalties are handled
  • The easy process to join the ETD program and the benefits received—including free links to your university’s institutional repository

Alongside our expert speakers, we are delighted to welcome Lazarus Matizirofa, Associate Director | Research, Scholarly Communications, Digital Systems & Services at the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa), as a guest speaker.

The University of the Witwatersrand has been a ProQuest ETD submission partner since January last year, and Lazarus also brings prior experience from his earlier involvement in the program while at the University of Pretoria. Drawing on this rich, first-hand perspective, Lazarus will share insights into working with ProQuest, the value of ETD dissemination, and lessons learned from partnering with ProQuest across institutions.
