What data and metrics can inform a publisher about their performance of their and their competitor titles? How can that information be best understood in the context of a research field? We look at not only measuring publication performance but what drives that performance. The influence of contributing institutions, countries/regions, and funding agencies on a journal and the ‘market share’ of publishers and journals in their fields. What impact do editors have on the journal — do they select the best papers or do they reject them? What is the fate of rejected papers — do they go on to be published elsewhere, and if so, are they beneficial or not? Understanding a journal's performance helps inform an effective publishing strategy.

Join Matt Hayes, who will provide an overview of the Transparent Peer Review initiative: a cross-industry collaboration from Publons, ScholarOne and Wiley to develop a practical, scalable and flexible solution for journals to introduce open peer review to their publishing process.
